DUBAI: Pakistan reached 284-4 in their 50 overs at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium mainly due to a brilliant hundred by Ahmed Shehzad.

Ahmed Shehzad lost his opening partner Sharjeel Khan early today, but found an able partner in M.Hafeez.

Both put on 76 for the 2nd wicket before Hafeez got runout for a well accumulated 32.

Sohaib Maqsood went cheaply and in came the skipper at a crucial stage when Pakistan needed to build a partnership at brisk pace.

Ahmed and Misbah put on 105 in 16.5 overs before Ahmed Shehzad lost his wicket, trying to accelerate for a very well played 124 off 140 balls with 8 hits to the fence.

This set the stage for Shahid Afridi to play the way he knows best and he did not disappoint.

He finished with a quick fire 30 of 15 balls hitting a four and 2 maximums.

Misbah ul Haq remained not out on 59 with the help of 2 fours and a six. The 5th wicket partnership between Misbah and Afridi yielded 51 runs off just 4.5 over.

Sri Lankan strike bowler Malinga was a bit expensive picking up a wicket for 78 runs in his 10 overs. Prasanna and Kulasekara were the other wicket takers.

Pakistan lead the ODI series 1-0 after winning the 1st ODI in Sharjah.
