SOUTHAMPTON: Australia beat England by 39 runs to win the first Twenty20 international at Southampton on Thursday.
Aaron Finch's 156, the highest individual score in a T20 international, was the cornerstone of Australia's colossal 248 for six.
England then lost early wickets before Joe Root's unbeaten 90 saw them finish on 209 for six.
Victory was Australia's first in any competitive international for 200 days and saw them go 1-0 up in a two-match series that concludes at Durham on Saturday.
