ISLAMABAD: Pakistan will pay 520 million dollars against the International Monetary Fund (IMF) loan programme in two installments in the current month, Geo News reported Saturday.
Sources of the Finance Ministry told Geo News here that a payment of 140 million dollars will be made to the IMF on February 11 while another installment of 380 million dollars will be made on February 26 in a bid to, what they said, 'ease the burden of debt'.
Pakistan had entered into a loan deal amounting to 7.80 billion dollars with the IMF in 2008 following pressures of piling up international dues and so far it has managed to return 2.38 billion dollars to the Fund.
