KARACHI: Sindh government has decided to move Supreme Court against the decision of Sindh High Court that declared amendments in the Sindh local Government Act-2013 (SLGA-2013) unconstitutional and illegal.

However, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) hailed the decision of the high court. MQM is of the view that local bodies election should be held in accordance with the schedule issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan.

Addressing a press conference, MQM’s parliamentary leader in Sindh Assembly Faisal Sabzwari said that his party is ready to participate in the local bodies election.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said that the high court only void the amendments made in the SLGA, adding that it is still possible to hold LB polls.
