SHARJAH: Mohammad Hafeez hit a fine century to steer Pakistan to an impressive total of 322 for five against Sri Lanka in the first One-day International here at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.

Hafeez scored 122 from 129 balls with seven fours and four sixes. This was his seventh hundred in ODI cricket.

He was well supported by young Sohaib Maqsood (73 off 68 with four sixes and two fours) and debutant Sharjeel Khan (61 off 61 balls with six fours and three sixes).

Besides, allrounder Shahid Afridi smashed 34 off just 12 balls with three sixes and two boundaries.

Opener Ahmed Shehzad could make only 11 runs after captain Misbah-ul-Haq won the toss and elected to bat.

Then Hafeez added 83 with Sharjeel for the second wicket and 140 with Sohaib for the third wicket.
Fast-medium bowler Suranga Lakmal claimed two wickets for Sri Lanka.
