ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan-designate, Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani will take oath of his office on Thursday, Media reported.
 
According to sources, President Mamnoon Hussain will administer oath to the new Chief Justice of Pakistan at an oath taking ceremony to be held here at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Thursday morning.
 
The Law Ministry had issued a notification of Justice Jillani's appointment as the new CJ after President Mamnoon Hussain’s approval for the same under Article 175 Section 3 of the Constitution.
 
Earlier, Justice Jillani had been serving as the acting Chief Election Commissioner.
 
Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif is also expected to attend the swearing-in ceremony besides federal ministers and foreign envoys of other countries in Islamabad.
 
Jiustice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani will succeed Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry as the new Chief Justice of Pakistan.
 
Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry proceeds on retirement as CJ with effect from December 11, 2013.
