SC hears suo moto notice of Islamabad standoff today
ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan will hear suo moto notice case of Islamabad standstill today (Monday), Zee Info News reported.

A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhamamd Chaudhry will hear the suo moto notice of the standoff which took place in the federal capital on Thursday.
On Thursday, Malik Sikander accompanied by his wife and children brought the federal capital to a standstill as he brandished two sub-machine guns in broad daylight on Jinnah Avenue, fired shots in the air, and put forth irrational demands to the government authorities.
The five-hour standoff came to an end after PPP leader Zamurud Khan intervened by making an unsuccessful attempt to grab Sikander who was then shot along with his wife by security forces.

Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhamamd Chaudhry had taken suo moto notice of the standoff.

Meanwhile, a duty magistrate on Sunday issued a one-day transit remand for Kanwal, wife of the gunman responsible for the standoff in the federal capital.

The accused was presented before the magistrate’s court in sector F-8 in Islamabad.

According to reports, Kanwal will be produced before an anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Monday.
