MUZAFFARABAD: Indian forces continued to violate ceasefire at Line of Control (LoC) as it once again resorted to unprovoked firing and mortar shelling in Charikot sector in the wee hours of Monday, damaging houses in the area, sources said.
According to the sources, Pakistani security forces guarding the borderline fired back following the violation of cease fire. The exchange of fire continued in the area, it said.
The Indian security forces also opened unprovoked fire and used mortar shell in Kotli, martyring a youth and injuring his sister late on Sunday night.
Sources said that a mortar shell fired by the Indian troops hit the house in Donga Gambhir, resultantly a youth, identified as Zubair, was martyred while his sister sustained wounds.
Pakistani forces retaliated the attacks. The intermittent exchange of fire triggered tensions in the region.
Earlier on Sunday, Indian Border Security Force (BSF) violated cease fire on LoC and opened unprovoked fire on a Pakistan Rangers' checkpost in Sialkot sector in Nakial sector near Kotli, military official said.
The situation remains tense between the South Asian neighbours since New Delhi accused Pakistan Army of killing Indian troops in occupied Kashmir.
Islamabad has been showing restraint despite Indian aggression after the recent events in which its High Commission was targeted by protesters in New Delhi.
The New Delhi-Lahore friendship bus was also stopped by Indian protesters on Friday.
