KARACHI: A larger bench of Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan will take up Abbas Town suo moto notice case today (Wednesday).
Three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry comprises Justice Amir Hani Muslim and Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan will hear the case at SC Karachi Registry.
Chief Justice of Pakistan, Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry had taken suo moto notice of the blast in Abbas Town, Karachi.
Advocate General and Inspector General Sindh police will appear before the court. The hearing is expected to focus on the failure of authorities to act immediately following the blast.
At least 48 people were killed in a horrific blast in Abbas Town on Sunday night in Karachi. Hundreds of shops and homes were badly damaged in the blast, which came as people were leaving a nearby mosque after offering prayers. The balconies of nearby apartment blocks were also destroyed in the blast.
