Karachi in a Daze as Violence Claims 13 Lives

KARACHI: At least 13 people, including a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz officer bearer along with his son, were shot dead in the latest spate of violence in the port city, Geo News reported in the early hours of Wednesday.
Senior Police Superintendent Nasir Aftab said unknown armed men opened fire on a vehicle in Denfence Phase VI area, killing two people. He said that the slain were identified as Mian Arbab and his son Mian Taimur. He said Mian Tamur was a local leader of the PML-N.
The PML-N also confirmed that Arbab was associated with the party.
Till midnight at least 11 people fell victim to targeted killings in different parts of the city. According to reports, four bodies were also recovered from different parts of the city. Police said that Hasan Alam, a senior doctor at Sindh Government Hospital New Karachi, was killed when unknown assailants riding motorcycle opened fire on his vehicle near Power House.
A police inspector was shot dead in Nagan Chowrangi. Unidentified motorcyclists sprayed a man with bullets and managed to flee in Muhajir Camp locality of the Baldia Town. Identity of the deceased was yet to be known. A man was gunned down in Musa Lane area of Lyari. Police shifted the body to the Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK).
Gunmen shot dead a man near Safoora Chowrangi in Gulshan-e-Iqbal. Identity of the deceased was yet to be ascertained.
Rescue sources said that a body bearing gun shot wounds was found at Hawks Bay road. Three bodies bearing torture marks were recovered from Baldia Town and Old Haji Camp areas in the early hours of Tuesday. Identities of the three bodies were yet to known. Four other people were gunned down in Orangi Town, Hasan Square, Khokrapar and Golimar areas of Karachi.
