ISLAMABAD: Despite the deteriorating law and order situation and the ongoing power crisis, the industrial rate of production has managed to go up by 2.38 percent in the first five months (July-November) of the current fiscal.
According to the figures released by the Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS), the annual production of petroleum and pharmaceutical industries has recorded gains while fertilizer and automobile sectors have witnessed a decline.
The economic experts say that an increase in domestic demand led to the higher production of the major industries despite the fact that the country remained in the grip of energy crisis besides poor law and order situation.
The industrialists have stressed that in order for the domestic industry to expand, the government will need to take emergency steps towards boosting the energy supply.
