Altaf’s demand for new provinces draws quick reactions
KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain’s yet another demand for the formation of new provinces has drawn immediate reactions from many political leaders.

A few weeks earlier the MQM Chief had demanded an army operation in Karachi to purge the city of terrorists and extortionists.

In a quick reaction, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Sharjeel Inam Memon said the province is already facing a volatile law and order situation and it would be better to keep the focus directed to this issue. However, he added that there was nothing to object about if Altaf Hussain is hinting at formation of news provinces in federating units other than Sindh.

Ayaz Latif Palijo, Chief of one of the Sindh’s nationalist parties, Awami Tehreek, said the people of Sindh considered Altaf Hussain’s demand as an attack on themselves and they would never allow the division of Sindh at any cost. “This sort of demand would take the circumstance from bad to worse,” he warned.

Amir Jamat-e-Islami, Munawwar Hasan when asked to comment on the said demand during a press conference, he replied in a light mood saying he would express his reaction after reaching London.
